Model Coastal Resilience Ordinance Language
This project developed a model coastal resilience ordinance that offers Maine's coastal municipalities and their residents increased protection from threats posed by climate change such as sea level rise, flooding, coastal erosion and storm surge. The ordinance focuses not only on built infrastructure, but also natural resources and the environment in order to increase the overall resiliency of coastal municipalities. The project team, made up of SMPDC and FB Environmental, worked collaboratively with the five participating coastal Maine municipalities to develop the model ordinance through a series of workshops.
