The following list contains organizations and businesses based in the SMPDC region of Southern Oxford and York County who offer services for businesses, business owners and entrepreneurs. Services offered by these providers may be free or offered at market rate. 

 

Business Counseling, Mentoring, and Workshops

Black Owned Maine: Understands challenges that disproportionately affect black-owned businesses. Assists with business directory, networking, and counseling for black-owned businesses in Maine.
New Ventures Maine: Tuition-free programs for career, business, and financial education, including one-on-one business counseling.
SCORE: Helps entrepreneurs start, grow, or successfully exit a business with free expert one-on-one mentoring, resources, and education/training (group workshops). 
Maine Small Business Development Center (SBDC):Assists entrepreneurs and small businesses through no-cost confidential one-on-one business advising and training (group workshops). 
Women’s Business Center (CEI):Understands challenges that disproportionately affect female entrepreneurs and provides resources to help address those challenges through workshops and individual counseling.

Downtown and Municipal Business Organizations

Biddeford/Saco Business Hub: Local resources for entrepreneurs.
City of Biddeford, Economic Development Department: Works with businesses, city officials, and other entities to grow the local economy.
City of Saco, Economic Development Department: Responsive to the needs of businesses and entrepreneurs in Saco, as well as those looking to establish, expand, or relocate new businesses here.
Friends of Downtown Sanford: Builds community connections, revitalizes the business environment, and draws visitors and prospective residents to Sanford.
Heart of Biddeford (HOB): Fosters a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable downtown for residents, businesses and visitors.
Kennebunk Development Corporation (KDC): Provides free and confidential assistance to current and potential new businesses and companies looking to establish or expand their businesses in Kennebunk.
Saco Main Street: Supports the downtown’s economic and cultural vitality through design, organization, promotion and economic revitalization.
Sanford Regional Economic Growth Council: “Go-to” organization for business expansion or relocation in the Sanford area.
Town of South Berwick, Economic and Community Development Department: Cultivating a vibrant and healthy economic climate.

Finance Authority of Maine (FAME): Maine’s business finance agency, FAME’s role is to help Maine businesses access capital to start up, expand, and succeed. 
FAME’s Business Roadmap: outlines key steps in the business planning and financing process, along with the tools, resources, and trusted partners that can help you along the way.
Southern Maine Finance Agency: SMFA is a regional community development financial institution and certified development company serving York County and the State of Maine. It provides regional business lending, targeting undeserved markets in Southern Maine.
Banks Headquartered in York County: All offer commercial banking and lending at branches throughout York County.
