Hollis Open Space Plan
The Town of Hollis is developing its first Open Space Plan to better understand, protect, and plan for the natural, scenic, and recreational resources that define the community. This project will inventory existing conserved lands and natural features, identify priority areas for conservation and recreation, and establish clear strategies to guide future decisions. Through collaboration with residents, community partners, and local officials, the plan will reflect how open spaces are used today while anticipating future needs based on changing trends. Once complete, the plan will serve as a practical tool to support land use planning, conservation efforts, recreation planning, and grant funding opportunities.
Work on the plan began in winter 2026 with a review of existing conditions, evaluation of past efforts, and development of base maps. In spring 2026, the Town will launch a community survey, followed by broader public engagement and a workshop in summer 2026. Draft recommendations will be prepared in fall 2026 and reviewed by the Conservation Commission, with a final plan presented for adoption by the Selectboard in winter/spring 2027.
